Bringing Mum is the Word to life: Jasmine’s brand photography shoot

When Jasmine Westwood from Mum is the Word came to Unmuted, she had ideas. She could picture what she

wanted for her brand, but needed help turning those thoughts into images she could actually use.

With a website relaunch to support and content to create, the photographs needed to work across different parts of her business, from her website to Instagram and printed materials.

They also needed to feel like her.

Making space for a proper natter

Jasmine was a little nervous at the start. As she explained in her review, she hates having her photograph taken when it feels forced.

That feeling is familiar to so many women I photograph. You want good images for your business, but the thought of standing in front of a camera can make you feel anything but yourself.

For Jasmine, feeling comfortable made all the difference. She described our time together as being “like two friends having a natter”, which is such a lovely way to remember a shoot.

There’s room to talk, share ideas and enjoy yourself. You don’t have to arrive knowing how to pose or perform for the camera.

Turning her ideas into photographs

One of the most rewarding parts of brand photography is helping someone translate what’s in their head into something visible.

Jasmine had a vision for Mum is the Word. My role was to help her bring that vision into photographs, with guidance that allowed her to feel at ease throughout the experience.

The images needed to give her something useful to draw on as she relaunched her brand and continued sharing her work. Having photographs she felt happy using meant those ideas could move beyond the shoot and become part of her everyday business.

From the shoot to the website relaunch

Since our session, Jasmine has used her photographs on her new website and for Instagram content. In her review, she also shared that she had used them for flyers and her brand relaunch.

I love seeing where photographs go once a shoot is finished. They become the introduction on a website, the image that accompanies a social post, or the face someone remembers when they come across a business again.

For Jasmine, the result was a collection she could use across several platforms, supporting the brand she was building and the things she wanted to say.

In Jasmine’s words

“The shoot with Michelle has completely elevated my content and my new website relaunch.I was a bit nervous to start with as I hate getting my photo taken when it feels forced but Michelle immediately made me feel comfortable, like two friends having a natter and was able to help me create the ideas stuck inside my brain into real life images that I have been able to use on social media, website, flyers and a brand re launch. If you’re on the fence about using this service for your business- all I can say is do it!You’ll have fun, you’ll feel at ease and the results in the photos are amazing. Thank you again Michelle!” Jasmine Westwood, Mum is the Word
